Kai-Wen Chuang, M.D., is a pediatric urologist at UC Irvine Health and CHOC Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Dr. Chuang’s clinical interests include hypospadias, prenatal hydronephrosis, undescended testes, bladder and bowel dysfunction, spina bifida and conditions affecting sex development. Her research interests focus on long-term outcomes of congenital renal conditions and complex urogenital reconstruction.

In addition to quality patient care, Dr. Chuang is committed to medical education and scholarly work. She was the first resident physician at the Smith Institute for Urology to receive a departmental award for her dedication to teaching. More recently, she was named the recipient of the Great People Award, recognizing her contributions to the UCSF School of Medicine Community. Dr. Chuang has published in peer-reviewed journals and is an invited author for several urology textbooks.
